THE BEGINNING
A Call to Action
Actions of Aloha is a charitable business founded by DTL Hawaiʻi and driven by its mission to activate and amplify aloha in every home. In March 2020, Actions of Aloha was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We understood that big and small actions of aloha– rooted in compassion and kindness– had the power to positively shift mindsets, strengthen relationships and uplift communities.
With its origins as a social media challenge, Actions of Aloha quickly garnered support from people throughout Hawaiʻi. Upon receiving messages of gratitude and interest, it was clear that our community needed more aloha. In response, our team created a deck of cards that encouraged simple actions of aloha for an individual, a family, a community and the world.
THE MOVEMENT
Elevating Community
Early on we challenged ourselves to envision how we could extend aloha throughout the pandemic and beyond. We noticed that cultural and historical sites like ʻIolani Palace and Bishop Museum were struggling with the changes in our society. With this in mind, we created a deck of cards with a dual-purpose: to encourage others to extend aloha and to raise funds for these local organizations.
After four decks of cards and several partnerships, Actions of Aloha has donated over $30,000 to date: $10,000 to ʻIolani Palace, $10,000 to Waimea Valley, $10,000 to Bishop Museum, and $1,000 to Pauahi Foundation. New partnerships and products are being developed as we aim to see aloha in every home and elevate our community along the way.
